What is the You: On a Diet? Dr. Mehmet Oz and Dr. Michael Rozien have developed a diet plan that they say could do wonders and is guaranteed to work. The goal, they say, is to slim the waist down to its ideal size, and that would be 32.5 inches for women and 35 inches for men. The second goal of the diet plan would be simplifying the way people control their food intake so that they won't even realize that they are dieting in the first place.

Why Fasting Never Works

People often starve themselves, thinking that by eating less they lose more weight. This isn't necessarily true. When people stop eating, metabolism shuts down. When this happens, and the dieter gives in to a candy bar, most of the calories from that snack item will be immediately deposited as fat, giving the most unfortunate opposite effect. 5. Bleached flour

These ingredients are often hidden in commercial snack items, and are not usually advertised along with the product. Therefore, being critical enough to read product labels in one attitude a wise consumer - and a healthy dieter - must possess.

Dealing with Cravings

People often experience cravings for sweet or salty food items somewhere mid-afternoon. The most common and more convenient foods to grab would be a bag of chips or some candy bars and chocolate. While eating such foods occasionally may appear to be harmless, a frequent "occasionally" is just as good as always. You: On a Diet recommends bringing emergency foods that have the characteristic of being crunchy and have a touch of sweetness to them. These are usually the foods that satisfy midday cravings. Healthy emergency foods that can be eaten guilt-free include nuts, apples, and carrots, among many others.

Breakfast: The Most Important Meal of the Day

Breakfast is also a key component in Dr. Oz's regimen. Studies show that people who eat breakfast every day are usually thinner than those who don't. Breakfast gives the body's metabolism a jump start - something that will keep yielding benefits throughout the day.

Dr. Oz also says that one of the reasons people get fat is because they often have so many items on the menu to choose from and they almost always want one of everything. Great advice would require people to automate their breakfast and lunch, choose from a few healthy foods such as oatmeal, whole grains, etc., and stick with that menu. For dinner, they can then enjoy a variety of options.

The Key to Exercise

Walking is the very foundation of exercise. It increases overall stamina and prepares the body for strength training. It is highly recommended that people strive to walk an average of ten thousand steps per day, or thirty minutes daily. The second step would be to develop muscles by lifting weights for at least thirty minutes per week. After that, people would have to work up a sweat for about an hour a week. This is one key to developing overall health, and also the well-being of the heart so that life does not only become healthier, but a whole lot longer as well. Finally, it is also very important to stretch so that the muscles do not easily tear and so that the body does not get hurt easily. With a balance of the right kind and amount of food, as well as proper and correct exercise, there is no easier way to achieve and maintain that healthy weight.
