What is the Fruit Flush Diet?

Being healthy and sustaining a lifestyle based on holistic well-being is an objective that everybody wants to achieve. Never has this advocacy of physical, mental, emotional and intellectual fitness been so aggressively pursued in all fronts from the individual down to the media, health advocates, and business empires.

The "Fruit Flush 3 Day Detox," which is founded by a personal trainer and a certified clinical nutritionist, Jay Robb, is a good starting point. Famously known as the Fruit Flush diet, it is a weight loss program involving a guaranteed reduction of 9 - 10 pounds for only a three (3) day period that relies exclusively on prescribed fruit, vegetable and lean protein eating.

It claims that the benefits resulting from taking only the allowable foods provide breathing space for the body by ridding out the digestive system of other foods; cleanses the system or acts as detoxification; and disposes fats. The advantages argued boil down to the naturalness of the fruits' and vegetables' ideal cleansing value.

The three (3) required foods have key roles to play in reducing weight gained. First, the fresh fruits and raw vegetables eradicate the toxins accumulated in the body by stuffing oneself with foods that are considered unhealthy such as processed, sweeteners or oil or salt-based. Lean proteins sufficiently protect the muscle mass. In addition, these healthy foods help the fats to be removed.

By complying with the instructional eating pattern of this diet, the body is supplied around 9000 - 1000 calories in a day's time. This low calorie diet is fine to be implemented either once a week for three (3) months or to be done once or twice a month. Indulging in this diet is the right thing to do if one feels the need to restore a healthy body anytime. It is urged that a balanced diet consisting of unprocessed, fresh and natural foods be applied right after finishing the Fruit Flush Diet. This new eating process ensures the much-needed dietary and nutritional requirements of the body. An exercise during this diet is strictly prohibited but can be done after completing it.

Specific foods are strictly to be eaten within the timeframe of the diet. Day 1, considered as the Pre-flush time, calls for the drinking of a 6-ounce protein, which must not contain any which the list pointed out as unacceptable items or ingredients; preceded by 8 - 12 ounces of water. Drinking is to be done five times or for every two (2) hours effective 8:00 in the morning to 4:00 in the afternoon. Dinner is made up of 3 - 6 cups of uncooked but fresh vegetable salad into which 1 - 2 tablespoons of olive oil or flaxseed oil could be added as a simple dressing or half slice avocado and half a lemon or lime and 3 - 6 ounces lean protein or egg whites. Days 2 and 3 carry the same food eating plan, using the same time schedule of Day 1. Instead of drinking, one is demanded to eat one (1) portion or about 100 calories of fresh fruits and to take 8 - 12 ounces of water. Dinner is exactly the same in Day 1 except for the lean protein and egg whites which are to be replaced with one (1) protein beverage.

In the world of health and nutrition, there are medical professionals or experts who made a review of this diet. They refuted the claims or theories of Mr. Robb. Due to different physical, biological and individual differences among human beings, there are specific diets that work better in a person while the same does not go well with a different person.

Consulting a medical expert is a must if one has to take a special diet to ensure that insufficient dietary requirements are identified and accompanied with the correct prescription to supplement it to make the diet work out effectively.
